Colorado Drone Light Shows in 2021

Drone Pro Media was very busy in 2021, bringing the newest in drone event technology to center stage across Colorado and the United States. Drone light shows in Colorado are a new thing. There have only been a couple of shows to date, and they have been rather small. The Hire UAV Pro & Drone Pro Media difference is that we can bring larger and larger shows to events, concerts, festivals, and more, thanks to a long history of testing, developing, and expanding our drone light show fleet.

When we started, fireworks were still a fixture at most events. But in recent years, and after several very well known large fires including the Marshall fire, which burned down the Town of Superior in the Boulder and Denver suburbs, communities and event promoters are exploring using drone light show technology more than ever before.

That’s where we come in. We can bring the same wow factor to any event, capable of customizing the artwork in the sky using advanced drones and ground control to make these performances even more incredible. Also, sponsorship opportunities abound, with the ability to create exact artwork and animate it in the sky.

Based in Denver, Colorado, we have talked with many communities about a drone light show, including Parker, Breckenridge, Avon, Gypsum, Estes Park, Lyons, to name just a few. We are always excited to talk about this with new customers. Already planned for this year are 3 big drone light shows around the 4th of july in Colorado.

Testing Non-Invasive Bird Mitigation Strategies with Drones

Migratory birds, such as Swallows, can pose a major problem to building and property owners in the Spring months each year. Thousands of birds move into areas where awnings and roofs provide high vantage points and sufficient cover from raptors (Falcons, Eagles) so they may mate. In their wake, they often do a good deal of damage to buildings, as well as affecting the overall aesthetics of the property (bird droppings, waste from nest-building).

These birds are, however, protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, which makes it illegal to kill, injure, harm, or take any bird, as well as to intentionally damage or destroy nests, eggs, or the young birds.

Many people take to the use of a Falconer, who can give the birds the notion that there are larger, predatory bird species in the area. This has an indirect affect of diverting their attention from their young and mating to protecting the nest. The end result is often that the birds will move on and nest elsewhere. But falconers are expensive and hard to find.

Enter the drone. Mimicking the same patterns as raptors while also able to provide extremely valuable data about flight paths, altitude, speed, video and photography from the air, and more create the foundations of a case study that Drone Pro Media currently has going on in Denver, Colorado, and also make the drone more advantageous than the traditional falconer.

Over the course of several months, we are gathering valuable data that will be used to gain a better understanding of using drones as a non-invasive and safe way to prevent human and bird negative interactions which often lead to “unintentional” death caused to these migratory birds by way of using nets and other safeguards to the building. These are also expensive pieces of equipment that typically far exceed the budget of property managers, building owners, and home owners.

Over the course of 16 flights targeting the evening hours when Swallows are most active, we have already seen a marked decrease in bird activity. This is quantified by visual observation measurements taken during flight, scanning to see how many swallows approach the drone while in a raptor flight formation. We estimate we are seeing less than half the amount of birds taking flight to protect their nests, as well as the same decrease in resting or perching birds on rooftops and chimneys.

We are excited to produce our case study at the end of the month and will be sharing it with all that are interested.

The best 5 Cinema 4D tutorials you need to know

Cinema 4D is one of the most popular 3D modeling and animation programs on the market. Along with others like Maya, Blender, and 3DS Max, Cinema 4D has the capability of creating Hollywood and Super Bowl commercial caliber animations and visualizations.

The software program is intermediate level to learn, initially, and very advanced to master. There are just so many different ways to utilize the program, and thousands of associated plugins, that achieving a given look is just about limitless.

So let’s dive into 5 very powerful tutorials that show you some of the amazing things that you can do in Cinema 4D.

1. Create realistic 3D terrain of anywhere in the world

Using a plugin called DEM Earth, you can take any location in the world and bring it into Cinema 4D. Imagine the possibilities? You can quickly create and export into a virtual reality or augmented reality game using Unity, or you can turn into an animation that shows, in the real world, how to climb a mountain or places you may have visited on a recent vacation. This tutorial will show you how to use the DEM Earth plugin inside of Cinema 4D to quickly model terrain from anywhere in the world.

2. Create an Augmented Reality App

Cinema 4D is the perfect 3D program to create an augmented reality scene. You can create or import models, even add animations. Once you’ve made your desired scene, you can quickly export it as an .fbx file and import into Unity to create your Augmented Reality App. Unity does require some advanced knowledge, but there are many tutorials out there to help you with that. This tutorial will show you how to export your scene into Unity to create an Augmented Reality app.

3. How to use the Knife tool to master modeling

Mastering modeling requires knowledge of all of the tools on hand. The knife tool is a powerful tool, especially in the newest Cinema 4D R18. You can cut, reshape, and even project to cut any shape you can think of out of your polygons. This makes modeling a house, car, or a conceptual design that much easier. This tutorial will show you how to use the knife tool to power your modeling.

4. How to model a house using the House Builder tool in Cinema 4D

Cinema 4D is the perfect tool for creating architectural visualizations. You can create a house very quickly using the house builder tool. From there, add in all of the 3D models, many of which Cinema 4D gives you when you download it. Then, texture your floor, add some ies lighting, and then render it out in an optimized render setting and voila! You’ve got yourself a professional image or animation of a house. This tutorial shows you how to use the house builder tool to create a house floorplan.

5. Rig your model or import a character into Cinema 4D for animation

Drone Pro Media and Formula One Racing

In 2017, Drone Pro Media was fortunate to be a part of a large international project to bring live broadcast to Formula One racing. Graham Hill joined drone operators and technicians from Spain, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Hungary, and Belgium to be one of the first teams to launch a drone at capture on-air images for broadcast during both the Barcelona and Hungary Formula One races.

The technology relied upon a drone tether system – a long, retractable cable capable of supplying a UAS with power and allowing it to stay aloft for an indefinite period of time. This was the crucial part of always being in position for the next car coming around the turn. The team coordinated with the helicopter team at each location to ensure that all airspace regulations were covered through a NOTAM. The experience turned out to be a success, and the team is looking forward to more work with Formula One in 2018.

Enjoy the videos that came out of both races, and stay tuned to Drone Pro Media of Denver, Colorado for more incredible stories of using drones and UAS to push the limits of aerial media and data capture.

Drone Pro Media helps Businesses get hiring a Drone Operator right

From the outside, being a drone operator and running a drone business looks like a lucrative, cutting-edge business venture. It attracts anyone who considers themselves to be entrepreneurial, tech savvy, or a self-starter business man or woman. Sure, owning and operating a drone business had a lot of appeal in the first few years of formation, back when the competition was small and the opportunities for growth seemed unlimited.

Drone Pro Media has evolved over the years, but our number one driver for this evolution is and has always been our customer, NOT our competition. This has allowed us to maintain lasting relationships rather than be replaced by new, cheaper, and promising to deliver more competition.

We’ve worked with many clients in Denver and beyond that have told us over and over again about the

pitch meetings they have hosted for new drone companies. What we’ve found is that our client’s are not

interested in these pitch meetings. They are interested in seeing an amazing product, and that’s something we will deliver on every single time. Companies go through drone operators trying to find the

right one to work with because, frankly, there are many out there interested in the technology or the business, but not possessing the necessary qualifications to deliverquality every single time. Drone Pro Media will make the difference clear.

Here are our core tenets for working with a client.

  1. Personal relationship: We want any client to feel open to calling us or having us come into the office to discuss, analyze (hell even rip apart!), and comment on our work. We also want to be in the room for the scope of work meeting. All of our personal interactions speed up your workflow so that you are doing less work checking in and editing our draft videos. That’s supposed to be our job, not yours!
  2. Pre-production: We take pride in not just being the best drone pilots, but also in being the best graphic designers, motion graphic artists, animators, and even musicians. When you work with us, you will begin getting a clear idea that we understand your needs as soon as our kick-off meeting is over. We want nothing lost in translation, which means we want you to have a statement of work, production book, script, and style guide for how your video will work.
  3. Edit until done: We don’t put any upcharge on the amount of edits it takes to get a project done. Our guarantee is simple – we are done when you are happy. That means re-shoots, re-edits, all of that is a cost that we incur to ensure you as our client will remain our client.

Don’t just ask for the best drone media you can get – expect the best from Drone Pro Media.
